PAINT OUT IN GIG HARBOR
The Harbor History Museum in Gig Harbor welcomes plein air painters to “Paint the Shenandoah” at the Maritime Paint Out, in conjunction with the Gig Harbor Maritime Art Show.  Come and join us Saturday, Aug 11, 2012 anytime from 8am-5pm at 4121 Harborview Drive.  What could be better than spending the day on the water in this sweet little harbor town, painting, and meeting old friends and new!  Bring your lunch or enjoy one of the local restaurants nearby.  Coffee and tea will be provided.  Meet behind the museum by the Shenandoah, the 65-foot purse seiner, donated to the Museum in 2000.  To learn more about the Shenandoah Project, go to: www.harborhistorymuseum.org/programs/shenandoah-project/.   At 5pm, you have the option to bring  your painting framed or unframed to the museum to be considered for the "Museum's Choice" by Nate Slater.  If chosen, your piece will be displayed in the museum for the year and you may elect to donate it to the museum's permanent collection.

I'm very pleased and excited to be represented by this fine gallery in my home state.

"Twenty established artists from around the country come to Missoula, Montana and the surrounding area to paint en plein air, French for "in the open air."  They take on challenges of working in changing elements: heat, shifting light and moving subjects.  Plein air artists follow in the footsteps of the French impressionistsfrom the late 1800's and the American artists from the coast and southwest who followed the railroads west, painting scenes that informed the nation of Western grandeur in the 1900's.   The Dana Gallery is proud to continue the tradition of plein air work through holding this annual event.  The plein air work, as well as studio work from each artist, will hang in the gallery from July 12th-Aug 31st."  Dana Gallery
